Women's Wide Shoes Aren't Ugly Anymore

I wear women’s wide shoes. Saying that doesn’t bother me any more, but there was a time that it did.

Those three words meant, dull, ugly, and unfashionable.I was born with extra wide feet. During P. E., I donned my white canvas gym shoes, (that’s what we called them in those days), like all the other girls, but no one was more relieved than me when the bell rang for that class to end. Finally, I could get those horrid, pinchy shoes off my feet and put my sandals back on.

My friends thought I was crazy because I was the only one in school who wore sandals all year long -- sandals that had adjustable straps that I could loosen to fit my wide feet. When the popular “earth shoes” came out, I was happy as a lark. Those shoes were clunky and ugly, but they didn’t hurt my feet. And, best of all, the fad caught on and most of my friends were wearing them, too.

After their popularity had run its course, everyone else quit wearing them, but because my only other choice was to go back to sandals, I continued to act as though they were what I really liked to wear. Heaven forbid that I would admit that I just had feet that were too wide to fit into anything else.

But times have changed. Imagine how excited I was when a few manufacturers decided to market some stylish shoes to fit women like me? Unfortunately, the small town I lived in had only one shoe store, and, although they carried women’s shoes in narrow sizes, they never had anything to fit me.

By that time I was married, which proves that wide feet don’t necessarily ruin your marital prospects, but I still longed for a chance to shop for shoes the way my friends did. They could go into any store and come out with a pair of shoes that fit and looked perfect on their feet. I had to travel 60 miles to find a store where I could do that.

Recently, I became a bit of a computer nut. Before I went shopping for anything, I always checked it out on the internet to see if I could get a better deal online. Guess what? There are dozens of stores on there that sell women’s wide shoes. And the shoes they sell aren’t clunky and ugly. They are cute, and in style, and they don’t just have a few pairs to choose from; they have hundreds. Talk about shoe heaven.

One of my favorite online stores for women’s wide shoes is at Amazon. Their stock is really amazing, and their prices are reasonable. Why not click the link below and take a minute to stop by to see if they don’t have a pair of wide shoes with your name on it? I think you will be glad you did. Women's Wide Shoes

The Naturalizer Women's Referee Mary Jane Flat comes in X-Wide Sizes

If you're like me, you probably get in a rut about wearing the same pair of shoes over and over again. I'll admit, that even with all the cute shoes available now days for women who need extra wide widths, I tend to shy away from buying a new pair until the ones I am wearing practically fall to pieces. Probably a feeling left over from the days when it was much more difficult to find a decent looking pair of wide shoes---anywhere.

I love Mary Jane Flats even though they tend to run a little higher than some other styles, and  the pair I previously had listed in this space is already out of stock, so I ran across a similar one to replace it temporarily.  Unfortunately, it is only available in medium width, but I realize that some of us with wider feet fit pretty well into mediums if the length is right.  Anyway, I wanted you to know what a Mary Jane Flat looked like in case you want to chase it down elsewhere, but be quick, wherever you decide to buy.  They seem to be disappearing as soon as they are put on display.

The one pictured below is a Naturalizer brand made of brown leather and is very attractive. Dressy enough to wear to church, but also comfortable enough for every day. The inside looks really comfortable.

Plus Size Evening Wear---Stunning Outfits Online

So what is the big event?

Do you need a cocktail dress for a company party? Maybe you need a pretty summer dress for a wedding? How about a gorgeous ball gown for a black tie benefit? No matter what the occasion shopping for appropriate evening wear is always a challenge. You can spend all day in every mall within an hour of your house and feel as if you are never going to find the right outfit, dress, or whatever it is you need.

Finding the right plus size evening wear can be even more challenging. The selection is more limited and the dresses always seem to be so much less attractive. I have looked at some of this stuff and wondered what the designers were thinking when they allowed their dresses to be made in such large sizes. I mean everyone knows that a style and or pattern that looks good on a 5'4" woman who weighs 110 pounds is not going to look as good on a woman that wears a much bigger size.

Ruffles around the hips and chest are not good things for larger people unless of course they are interested in looking as large as possible. Every time I go to an event I see an unfortunate soul wearing something that would be terribly trendy on a much smaller woman but does nothing but show the larger woman at a severe disadvantage. I mean we all want to look our best right?

Especially when we are at large functions. So why is it that there seems to be such a lack or beautiful plus size evening wear? Not to sound insensitive but it isn't exactly like the United States is lacking in plus size people. You would think there would be more clothes designed to cater to them.

If you are tired of looking, check out this gorgeous gown from Amazon.  The eye-catching detail on one shoulder should make you the star of the evening, even if you have put on a few pounds around the middle.  And it comes in choice of sapphire blue, red, green, black, and purple, and at a price that almost anyone can afford.  (Click the picture to learn more about it, and be sure to check out the draping effect around the bustline.  Very flattering.)
